The Call for Application for DAAD In-Country/In-Region Scholarships for Africans 2022/2023 is now open for international applicants. Candidates from across sub-Saharan Africa are eligible to pursue their bachelor’s and master’s degrees.
A large number of scholarships are awarded to Sub-Saharan African students to study and research in their home country (within the country) or another Sub-Saharan African country (within the region) in different programs.
The program promotes the mobility of researchers between Sub-Saharan African countries and capacity building in Sub-Saharan African universities.
Masters and Ph.D. Scholarships in this program are awarded for shortlisted degree programs in development-related and SDG-oriented fields at shortlisted institutions in sub-Saharan Africa.
Ghana – West African Center for Crop Improvement (WACCI), University of Ghana, Subject Fields: MSc Seed Science and Technology (MSc)
Malawi – Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (LUANAR), Subject Field: Aquaculture and Fisheries Sciences (Ph.D.)
Namibia – University of Namibia (UNAM), Thematic fields: Biodiversity Management (Master)
South Africa: (Intra-Region Scholarships only; Intra-Country Scholarships for South Africa are addressed in a separate Call for Applications -> DAAD South Africa Intra-Country
- Stellenbosch University (SUN), Subject fields: Molecular Biology and Human Genetics (Master, Ph.D.) as well as Mathematics (Master, Ph.D.)
- The University of Witwatersrand, African Center for Migration and Displacement (ACMS), Subject Field: Migration and Displacement Studies (MSc, Ph.D.).
