Fully Funded World Bank Scholarship Program 2022/2023

SCHOLARSHIPS

The Joint Japan-World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program (JJ/WBGSP) is open to students applying for a master’s degree program in development-related topics, from developing countries with relevant professional experience and a track record of supporting the development of their countries.

The JJWBGSP offers scholarships to 26 participating programs at universities in the US, Europe, Africa, Oceania, and Japan in key areas of development, including economic policy management, fiscal policy, and infrastructure management.

Please note that the application process for the JJWBGSP Scholarship opens in two rounds and the first application window is closed. Hopefully, you will be admitted in application window #2

At the end of their career, academics from developing countries are required to return to their home country to use their new skills and contribute to the social and economic development of their countries.

Scholarship Benefits

The JJ/WBGSP scholarship provides the recipient with the following benefits:

  • Economy class air travel between your home country and the host university at the beginning of your study program and immediately after the end of the scholarship period. In addition to round-trip air travel, scholars will receive a US$500 travel allowance for each trip;
  • Tuition for your graduate program and the cost of basic health insurance obtained through the university.
  • While on campus during the scholarship period, a monthly subsistence allowance to cover all living expenses (room, board, etc., including books). The amount of the benefit varies depending on the host country.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
Generally speaking, nationals of developing countries must:

  • Be a national of a developing country member of the World Bank on this list;
  • Not have dual citizenship of any developed country;
  • Being healthy;
  • Have a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) obtained at least 3 years before the application deadline;
  • Have 3 years or more of recent development-related work experience after earning a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent);
  • Be employed in a development-related job in a full-time paid position at the time the scholarship application is submitted. Have at least 3 years of paid development-related employment since earning a bachelor’s degree.

HOW TO APPLY- Log in to the online application
1. To log in to the online application, follow the instructions in ‘Access the online application’
2. The first time you access the online application portal, you will need to use the Register button to
Create an account. If you return to the portal, you can log in with your established account.
Account credentials. You will be prompted to create a profile. Click Create a profile to get started to access the profile form.
